Pada usia 6 tahun, Warren sudah memulai bisnis pertamanya sebagai penjual permen karet. Saat beranjak dewasa, Warren berbeda dengan remaja seusianya yang memilih untuk bermain, Warren justru memilih untuk mencari uang melalui pengantar koran.
Kemudian Warren bersama temannya Stu Erickson, berbisnis sebagai penjual bola golf di lapangan Elmwood Park, Illinois, Amerika Serikat. Meski pernah bermasalah dengan pihak kepolisian, tapi orang tua Warren justru bangga terhadap dirinya. Warren juga pernah berjualan popcorn di University of Omaha, dan juga pernah menjual prangko.
Saat remaja, Warren pernah membeli mesin pinball rusak seharga USD 25 yang kemudian diperbaiki temannya, Don Danly. Kemudian mereka mengoperasikan alat tersebut dan meminta tukang cukur untuk menempatkan mesin itu di belakang tokonya, dalam satu hari mesin tersebut sudah menghasilkan uang sebesar USD 4 dan dalam 1 minggu Warren sudah dapat membeli mesin pinball kembali yang bisa dinegosiasikan pada tukang cukur yang lain.
Kini Warren merupakan seorang investor dan pengusaha Amerika Serikat, dan kekayaan bersihnya mencapai USD 66,7 miliar atau lebih dari Rp 900 triliun pada tahun 2015.
